The retrieval engine built for agents
Hornet is an ambitious startup building the next generation of retrieval infrastructure. Our engine powers agentic systems with an API surface that agents can configure, deploy, feed, query, and optimize autonomously. Building on battle-tested technology, serving billions of users, petabytes of data, and millions of requests per second, we're rethinking retrieval for the agentic era.
We serve enterprise clients globally, enabling them to get quality work done with agents. Most of our team is based in Trondheim, Norway.
The role
We are looking for a Go-to-Market Engineer to build and operate the systems that help Hornet identify, engage, and convert high-potential customers.
This is a technical commercial role at the intersection of go-to-market, data, and operations. You will be responsible for building a repeatable way to identify the right companies, understand when they are likely to have a need for Hornet, and create qualified opportunities for the commercial team.
Hornet currently sells high value contracts through a technical, POC-led sales process. The role is not about maximizing lead volume. It is about improving our ability to identify and engage companies where there is a strong fit, clear intent, and meaningful commercial potential and then selectively convert those into sales conversations.
We are still early in our GTM motion so you will build the first version of the systems and processes needed to support the commercial team as it grows.
What you'll do
- Build systems to identify and prioritize high-potential customers.
- Combine company, technology, hiring, and market data to identify relevant signals of fit and intent.
- Develop account scoring and prioritization models to focus commercial effort on the strongest opportunities.
- Design and run targeted outbound campaigns and generate qualified first meetings for the commercial team.
- Automate repetitive GTM tasks across research, enrichment, segmentation, outreach, follow-up, and lead routing.
- Build and maintain workflows using APIs, databases, automation tools, scripts, and AI systems.
- Use LLMs and AI agents to improve the quality and efficiency of research, targeting, and outreach.
- Set up and maintain Hornet's initial RevOps infrastructure, including CRM structure, pipeline tracking, reporting, and data hygiene.
- Instrument the funnel to understand which accounts, signals, and activities result in qualified opportunities and revenue.
- Test new data sources, targeting approaches, messaging, and workflows and improve them based on results.
- Work closely with the commercial team to understand what makes an opportunity valuable and use that feedback to improve targeting.
- Support the development of new GTM motions as Hornet expands into additional customer segments.
What we're looking for
- 3–7 years of experience in consulting, startups, growth, RevOps, sales operations, or another analytical and commercially oriented role.
- Strong problem-solving and systems-thinking skills.
- Comfortable working with data and using it to prioritize commercial activity.
- Technically capable and comfortable building practical solutions without relying on an engineering team.
- Experience using AI coding tools to build scripts, simple applications, integrations, and automations.
- Experience working with APIs, databases, workflow automation, and modern GTM tooling.
- Good understanding of B2B sales processes and how a qualified pipeline is created.
- Strong commercial judgment and ability to distinguish useful signals from noise.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of ambiguous problems.
- Curiosity about technology, markets, and how customers operate.
Who we're looking for
- Builders: You like creating working systems and processes.
- Analytical: You are comfortable working through large amounts of information to find useful signals.
- Technically minded: You are comfortable with APIs, databases, automation, and AI tools, even if you are not a software engineer.
- Commercially aware: You understand that the purpose of the systems you build is to create valuable customer opportunities.
- High-agency: You take ownership of problems and work through them independently.
- Systematic: You prefer repeatable processes and measurable outcomes over ad hoc activity.
What we offer
- The opportunity to build Hornet's go-to-market systems from an early stage.
- Direct impact on pipeline, revenue, and how the commercial team operates.
- Close collaboration with sales, product, and engineering.
- A small, high-performing team with deep technical expertise.
- Close collaboration with both U.S. and Norway-based teams.
- Competitive salary.
- Equity: Significant equity stake from our ESOP in an early-stage, venture-backed company.
